Ambassador Eralp said that working with stakeholders in the tourism sector was among her top priorities and insisted that she would work hard to ensure the sector grows and attracts a good number of visitors from Turkey.

She also offered TANAPA an opportunity to advertise with Turkish Airline Magazine, Skyline Magazine and said the move would assist the national parks authority to attract tourists from over 60 destinations worldwide where the airline flies.

Ambassador Eralp also said she would discuss with the Turkish airline on the possibility of introducing more familiarisation trips by the Turkish media and tour operators to the national parks with the aim of exposing the parks abroad.

TANAPA’s Director General, Allan Kijazi said the authority was looking forward to receiving Turkish investors and tourists to boost growth in the tourism industry. He noted that Turkey as an emerging market economy by the International Monetary Fund classification, was a potential key tourist market where tourism marketing authorities need to focus.

Tourism is the country’s top forex earner after overtaking gold whose export earnings fell due to global price glut and lower output. It earned the country 1.95 billion US dollars last year up from 1.88 US dollars billion in 2013 from 1.14 million tourists visited the country mostly come from Britain, Germany, the United States and Italy.
